I started burning wood at 53. Not as a hobby - as a way through.

For years my spouse and I lived through some of the darkest fears a parent can face. The kind that don’t leave when the lights come on. We struggled mightily - under the weight of things we had no language for and no clear path through.

What we found - through Rubenfeld Synergy, The Enneagram, IFS and me eventually through art - was the darkness wasn’t the enemy. It was the doorway.

The work saved me. Not metaphorically. It gave my hands something to do while my mind learned to sit with uncertainty. It gave form to the feelings I couldn’t speak. And slowly, it gave me back a version of myself I didn’t know existed.

Today our family has found a way through. And I make art entirely about transformation - about what becomes possible when you stop running from change and start moving through it.
